This is a good point.  I have had this discussion before about trying to get groups to come together in unity by finding the common ground between them.  The problem seemed be for example, one group may sign up to something that other groups disagree with.  So there becomes a division.  Finding the common ground with each other or at least working side by side each other seems to be the way forwards....like supporting all POWs regardless of who they are aligned to.  Good cross communications with people is needed to bring them closer together.....easy said than done, but all groups must want this otherwise division will continue and get worse.  Strength in numbers and a big voice.....I guess time will tell.  It has been said by others that the south should be the place to build a strong unity of Irish people to help the north.

Good post. I always thought that the left were wracked by division. I spoke abot this to a Trotskyist friend, who while agreeing with me, pointed out that the groups on the right suffer the same fractured existence. So its not only the left that suffer from splits.

Personally, I think that the Republican Socialist groupings must sieze this moment to make gains from the crisis of capitalist system. We are being offered an open goal. capitalisim has been exposed as a failed idealogy. The scurrying around of western capitalist leaders to prop up their crumbling institutionsis testament to a system in its death throes

There is a desire among Irish Republican Socialists to learn from our past failings and to build a united front. There will always be those that dont subscribe to this, but I personally feel they are in a minority. I think the future will still be a challange for us, but united we can push the movement forward.....
