I totally agree with you. The fact is that capatalisim, as a system, has failed. The Working Classes are being asked to burden the brunt of proping up this debacle. The right wing press have totally failed to explain to the people what is happening. Private debt is being shifted onto the public, who have nowhere to pass the buck to, so it stops with them. Working class people did not cause this mayhem. Speculators and other city high flyers have walked away with payments bankrolled by taxpayers, while we are left to pay the bill, sickening.

Socialisim, as defined by Connolly all those years ago, needs to raise itself as a credible alternative to this. People have been sold the illusion that they actually own wealth, the fact is that we are slaves to mortgages etc that sell us the myth we are prosperous, when in fact the moneymen hold the deeds.

The Irish Labour Party are a disgrace to the memory of Connolly. Jumping into power with the rabidly right wing FG would never be an option to the great man. His statement from 1916 below is as valid then as it is now. Those who are in power now and claim to represent Republicanisim, and at one time ,Socialisim, should read this again and think again about the direction they are taking the working classes........

“If you remove the English Army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle., unless you set about the organization of the Socialist Republic your efforts will be in vain. England will still rule you. She would rule you through her capitalists, through her landlords, through her financiers, through the whole array of commercial and individualist institutions she has planted in this country and watered with the tears of our mothers and the blood of our martyrs ”
