Interesting read, but I thought Gerard Steenson was breaking away from the INLA feud not initiating it.  You're right the media has never been kind to any republicans.  I guess if he was born into a warzone then he will become part of it.  You can't always believe in what the media says because they do tend to twist things around to suit their own views and make someone look much more worse than they actually are.  I agree that he was a republican that you wouldn't want to be on the wrong side with.  It sounds like he was a very hands on type of man...actions speaks louder than words....a leading figure and fearless in anything that he did.  He was convicted on six killings by the word of Harry Kirtpatrick.
